Ensemble

The ensemble La Pedrina was founded by Francesco Saverio Pedrini in 2016. The singers and instrumentalists who have joined together in this ensemble are without exception members of the most important formations active in the Early Music scene today.

In the context of the renovation of the Sala delle fatiche d’Ercole La Pedrina presented an impressive performance in cooperation with renaissance dance experts “Renaidance” (direction Veronique Daniels) in the Palazzo Venezia in Rome. “Delle battaglie e degli amori d’Ercole” was a great success.

In 2018 a new concert series was founded with La Pedrina: the “Bach Konzerte Olten” have established regular high-quality performances of cantatas, motets and instrumental music by Johann Sebastian Bach.

La Pedrina’s first CD Luca Marenzio, Il pastor fido (Claves, 2018) was highly praised by international critics. It received awards and honours such as 5 Diapason from the Diapason Magazine, a Coup de Coeur of the Classica Magazine as well as a nomination for the International Classical Music Award (ICMA) in the category for Early Music that included only 20 CDs in total.

The next recording - presenting the fruit of a cooperation with Paolo Pandolfo - will be released in spring 2019 by Glossa/Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. The title “Regina Bastarda” reveals the major focus of the repertoire: unusual madrigals and chansons around the Viola bastarda may be looked forward to.
